Is the person you are asking/ making a request of/ making an offer to, empowered with:
- Honesty, appropriateness and legality?
- Safe options?
- Support and independent advice?
- Time to decide?
- The Ws: who, what, when, where, why and how?
1 Star Honesty, appropriateness and legality?
Are you honest and appropriate during the time period, prior to asking the question/ request/ offer? And is your question/ request/ offer, something that is:
- Honest, truthful and accurate to begin with?
- Appropriate in the first place?
- Legal?
- Upholding the person’s 7 Check Condition Precedent?
- Upholding the person’s wellbeing and human rights?
2 Stars Safe options?
Are you supplying more than one option? Are you supplying an option that the person actually considers a viable, beneficial preference?
Are you empowering the person to create new options by self-designing counter offers?
Are you empowering the person you are asking, with a safe environment to safely refuse your question/ request/ offer? And are you empowering the person with a safe exit?
3 Stars Support and independent advice?
Are you empowering the person you are asking, with sufficient time and a safe environment so the person can:
- Seek support from someone they trust?
- Seek advice from an independent advisor or a friend?
4 Stars Time to decide
Is it an appropriate time to ask?
Are you empowering the person you are asking, with sufficient time to:
- Understand the question?
- Consider the options?
- Select their preference or self-design counter offers?
- Complete their 7 Check Condition Precedent?
- Complete extra research if necessary?
- Ask you questions to clarify?
